Paul Reed Smith 305

0.0000.305Paul Reed Smith Guitars’ 305 model received the Musikmesse International Press Award (MIPA), known as the “Grammy” of the Musical Instrument/ProAudio Industry, for “Best Electric Guitar of the Year.” More than 100 magazines from all over the world vote for the best products of 2009/2010 in more than 40 categories. The award was presented at a special ceremony held during the Musikmesse 2010 International tradeshow in Frankfurt, Germany on March 25, 2010. Paul Reed Smith accepted the award on behalf of PRS Guitars.

Based on the PRS 513 model platform (a past PRS MIPA-winning guitar), the 305 model features three proprietary PRS single-coil pickups offering five classic sounds across a 25-1/2" scale length neck. Other features include a carved alder body, a 22-fret rock maple neck, and a maple fretboard with rosewood option. The 305 incorporates the classic ingredients of vintage single-coil guitars with improved modern construction that adds increased natural acoustic sustain. This guitar’s warm, clear bite offers tones unlike any other PRS model.

Paul Smith commented, “I think everyone at PRS did a great job on the 305. After speaking to some of the people responsible for MESSE and witnessing years of MIPA awards ceremonies, I’ve come to the conclusion that our beloved industry is enormously cross cultural, and for that I am very appreciative. It is an honor to receive the award.”

PRS has been nominated for a MIPA every year since the award was created in 2000 and has received the “Best Electric Guitar of the Year” accolade seven times, a feat never accomplished by any other guitar manufacturer. Past PRS model winners include the PRS Singlecut in 2000, the Santana SE in 2002, the Santana II in 2003, the 513 in 2005 and 2006 and the PRS Singlecut in 2007. Last year, PRS also received the “Best Acoustic Guitar” MIPA in the line’s inaugural year.
